Band Training Philosophy
Band Training
The use of bands is a performance orientated system of training to achieve muscular balance. Bands have been around for a long time, but we have developed a system to utilize bands to aid in performance. Utilizing band training allows for a more full range of directional resistance, development of the whole muscle system responsible for power, strength, and stability. This system of training achieves all of this while maintaining the integrity of the joints involved. Rather than overloading the joints with heavy weight during supplemental training, the resistance provided by the bands requires the muscles to work in a multitude of planes as they work to maintain a directional contraction against forces pulling in other directions. The stabilization effect that this creates in the whole system is tremendous. It is imperative to focus on maintaining body positioning in each motion to get the full effect. Muscle size develops more rapidly because more muscle fibers from more of the system are recruited to perform the movement, as compared to weight lifting that focuses on the prime mover to perform a rep.
Because the joints are spared in band training, more work can be performed in a single session, and recovery between workouts is more complete and the athlete is ready to train again much sooner. We have designed a band bench so that up to five people can train simultaneously. The band bench can be brought to the court, field, or gym, to engage in a total body workout. The greater stability allows you to lift more weight upper and lower body when bands are used as supplemental to weight training. It also protects the joints from breakdown from heavy free weight training.
